1. I Remember
In June of 1959, the rock 'n' roll movie "Go Johnny Go!" was released in the U.S.
"Go, Johnny Go!" was a Hal Roach Studios production starring disc jockey Alan Freed and a host of rock stars from the late 50s including Eddie Cochran backed up by The Kelly Four (aka The Hollywood Swingers).
Alan Freed plays a talent scout searching for a future rock and roll star. Co-starring in the film are Jimmy Clanton, Sandy Stewart, and Chuck Berry. The film has also been released as "Johnny Melody", "The Swinging Story" and "The Swinging Story of Johnny Melody".
Eddie Cochran is one of the 50s rock stars who appears in the film, lip-syncing the song "Teenage Heaven" which he recorded with his backup band The Kelly Four, aka The Hollywood Swingers. "Teenage Heaven" version #1 was recorded on three track stereo. Unfortunately the master tapes were subsequently erased. The song "I Remember" was also to be included in the movie but was eventually left out. Both songs were released as a doubled sided single and "Teenage Heaven" was included on the album ""Eddie Cochran - 12 Of His Biggest Hits" re-titled "The Eddie Cochran Memorial Album" after his death in a car crash while on tour in England in April of 1960.
Personnel on "Teenage Heaven" included:
Eddie Cochran - vocal, guitar
Mike Henderson - tenor saxophone
Mike Deasy - baritone saxophone
Jim Stivers - piano
Dave Shriver - electric bass
Gene Riggio - drums
